Help for PTSD

Even if you’ve never seen a battle, you could be battling post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). According to one study, 2.4 percent of Canadians have PTSD, but more than three quarters of the population has been exposed to at least one event that could cause PTSD, such as:

  • Childhood abuse
  • Serious accident
  • Natural disaster
  • Sexual abuse

If you’ve been diagnosed with PTSD and are looking for an effective, drug-free method of treatment, I can help. As a registered Psychotherapist and life coach, I offer confidential counselling for people struggling with PTSD. I provide solution-based tools to cope with the symptoms of PTSD through my training in modalities such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness and Holographic Memory Resolution. For example, I can train you in relaxation, breathing and positive thinking techniques that will allow you to take back control of your thoughts. Through CBT, we can work to change the irrational beliefs that stem from the initial trauma. I will also help find and treat the root of the problem, using my skills in inner child healing, energy healing and dream interpretation.

Of course, PTSD affects more than the individual. It can be a problem for the entire family as PTSD sufferers withdraw from their relationships, suffer from flashbacks, anxiety and sleeplessness. Outwardly moody and irritable, some people with acute PTSD will try to avoid the intense feelings by self-medicating with alcohol or drugs, leading to additional problems.

If you or someone you know is suffering from PTSD, please get help. Book your free 15-minute consultation or call to book 519.719.9240.
